Keurig Mini Plus Brewer Review

The Keurig Mini Plus Brewer or single cup coffee maker (also known as Keurig model B31) is the perfect personal coffee brewer for those with smaller households and do not need the reservoir back-up as with the larger Keurig models. Keurig came out with their first mini-brewer model, B30, back in 2008 and has made a couple of improvements since then with the new Mini Plus. Instead of having only one brew size of 8 ounces on the older model, the Keurig Mini Plus now has three brew sizes: 3, 6 and 10 ounces.

Overview and features of the Keurig Mini-Plus Coffee Maker:

The only thing different about the Mini Plus compared to the Keurig Platinum, Keurig Special Edition, Keurig Elite, Keurig B155, Breville and Cuisinart models is the lack of a heated reservoir. What does that mean? It means that water cannot be heated in storage and ready to brew on demand which means a slightly longer brew time because every time you brew, the water has to be heated all the way up. It takes about two minutes from pressing the brew button to getting your cup of coffee. Not bad for saving energy and saving some money since this is a cheaper model for that reason. Other than that, you get the same brew quality as any of the other Keurig single cup coffee makers.

We purchased our Keurig B70 model, which I think is the equivalent of the Keurig Special Edition, back before their Mini brewer was available. We never keep it on (don't find it necessary) so we use it as if it was a mini - needing to wait for the water to heat up first. It never is a big deal for the wait time. Usually I switch it on and then get my mug, the coffee - which is either a K-Cup, the K-Cup coffee filter or a tea bag "pod" that I make myself with fresh ground coffee - and by then the water is heated up and the coffee maker is ready to brew. If the mini was available when I was making my purchase back then I definitely would have got one.

Here are current auctions and buy it now listings for new and/or used Keurig Mini Plus brewers. If you want the latest model of the mini, be sure the seller is listing the B31 model or "Plus" model, not the older B30 original Mini Brewer. If you do not care about only one brew size, then you may be able to find a B30 at a cheap price, otherwise look for the B31 new improved version of the Keurig Mini.
